Legislation Slowly Being Introduced

The House of Representatives reconvened this week as most committees met for organizational purposes and new members were introduced.  Subcommittees were announced in the House Commerce Committee, House Judiciary Committee, House Health Committee, House Transportation Committee and House State and Local Government Committee.   These members will be listed on this website at www.legislature.state.tn.us.   Go to the House icon and click on Committees.

As of Thursday, there have been only 199 Senate Bills introduced and 232 House Bills introduced.  There certainly will be a flurry of activity this coming week, as the first bill filing deadline approaches in the Senate on Thursday, February 8th.  Again, the final cut-off for all bills to be filed is close of business on Thursday, February 22nd in the Senate and by close of business on Thursday, February 15th in the House.

Monday, February 5th, the Governor will give his annual State of the State address to the Joint Houses.  At this time, it is expected to include his agenda and budget priorities.  Major topics of discussion will certainly include the new Cover Tennessee program and other health initiatives, as well as education priorities and economic development initiatives.

Please call if you have questions.
